Maybe friendship, being the most sublime and intricate bond, is the most difficult to define? It might be the most complex because it has the greatest flexibility of all bonds—in terms of tolerance, acceptance, and open-mindedness. It doesn’t follow as many constraints that familial, matrimonial, employ, training, business and governmental relationships do. Their being friends, enjoying their time, grateful for the chance, avoided defining friendship amongst each other when it can be just as satisfying to simply broach the subject, talk about it superficially, and then wander away from it so as to continue enjoying their precious time together. 🤷🏻‍♂️😊

Mike, Socrates himself seem to think that one can, of course, be a friend without necessarily having a good grasp of what friendship is. But he seems to think it a bit odd, like when in the Laches he is puzzled that two generals don’t seem to know what courage is…
