I think this is a great way of looking at moral progress, and I do think it’s important to note that the virtuous person should enjoy being virtuous (unlike the sort-of Kantian position that it’s only good if you’re doing something you dislike, at least if that’s an accurate interpretation of Kant and not just a caricature).

I personally think I’m between #2 & #3! I think I’m generally in 2 or even 1 with regards to how I treat other people and talk to them, but I’m probably closer to 3 when it comes to doing chores, eating healthy, exercising, and other such more “self-improvement” type duties. I often find my will weak and I give in to eating unhealthy or choosing to relax rather than do what I ought to do.
