Massimo, when I read “On the ends of good and evil” there was one little thing that made me a bit confused. I was wondering if you would be so kind to clarify it for me.

When Cicero was comparing Aristotle’s ethics to Zeno’s he wrote (to my eyes) as if the Peripatetics and the Academy were a single entity, as if they had the same ethics. I was confused as to why he wouldn’t compare to Plato’s ethics since he was himself an Academic.

I started wondering if this was commonplace in antiquity: members of the Academy adopting Aristotle’s ethics as their own because he himself was Plato’s student. Or if it’s just an example of Cicero’s eclecticism

Did I get the wrong impression? Sorry about the lengthy text :)
