Today I finished hearing and reading it (I have the audio and the ebook) and enjoyed it very much from the beginning to the end. I got some nice suggestions for thinking, reading and practice. Thank you, Massimo.

(When) will the e-book be available in Germany? At the moment it is not, neither through Amazon, nor Apple.

Paul, I believe for now you need to look at the British edition, so probably through Amazon.uk. Hopefully the book will come out in German next year.

There is a new book of yours: “How to Be Good: What Socrates Can Teach Us About the Art of Living Well”. This seems to be the British edition, with different title, but the same content, available from Germany.

Paul, yes, right! For some reason my British publisher keeps changing titles and covers. That's the one.

Thank you Massimo! I take it the need for the kind of awareness Socrates calls for does not only apply to politics? It just seems so much easier to pretend.

On the contrary, Socrates insists that that sort of awareness is absolutely needed in politics, or else disaster ensues. As it in fact happened with Alcibiades. But yes, pretending is easier, if nobody calls you on it.

I was saying how this the awareness Socrates call for does bot only apply to politics, but to daily business.

And further it made me think of the frustration with politics, that people get in the habit of thinking of thinking about, expressed by Epictetus in Discourses IV, VIII.

“When they see a man acting contrary to the profession of a philosopher, they do not take away his title, but they assume him to be a philosopher, and from his acts deriving the fact that he is behaving indecently they conclude that there is no use in philosophy.”

Oh yes, definitely applies to daily business as well! And I love that quote by Epictetus!
